Chapter Six

REC BROUGHT the just-delivered steak dinners into the living room where Barclay was dozing on the couch, looking at ease and relaxed. He’d known that the sling would go over well. And the plug proved that while Barclay might not know anything about the lifestyle, he was a born sub and not afraid to explore the things his body ached for.

“Hey, B. Supper is here.” He spoke quietly so he didn’t jerk Barclay awake, but really, it was time for food and companionship.

“Oh God. I’m sorry. I was just zoned out.” Barclay tried to sit up, to figure out what to do.

“Don’t worry about it—that’s kind of what I was going for, so it’s all good.” He set the food on the coffee table. “I got UberEATS to bring us steaks from the Keg. I know it’s expensive, but I wanted to indulge you.”

“You’re too nice to me. I can pay my half.”

“You can get the next one,” he suggested. They didn’t need to worry about exact sharings or anything like that.

He got them both set up and then sat next to Barclay, enjoying the heat from his lover’s body. Barclay kept kissing, kept reaching for him. Kept stroking his belly, his legs.

“Aren’t you hungry?” Not that he was complaining about being loved on.

“Yes. Sorry. You’re addictive a little.” Barclay turned a sweet pink.

“You don’t have to apologize for wanting to kiss and touch me. I like it when you do. I just don’t want you passing out from hunger either.”

“And the steak smells like heaven on earth.”

“Yeah, it does.” He set Barclay’s container on his lap and offered over some utensils. “Let me know if you need anything.”

“I’m not high maintenance.”

“Who called you high maintenance?” Had one of Barclay’s past lovers said that?

Barclay hummed, sidestepping the question, and took a bite of steak. Rec shook his head. Barclay needed to open up to him. To trust him.

He grabbed up his own plate, though, and turned his attention to his food. Which was very good indeed.

Barclay ate eagerly, then reached for his crutches, carefully moving into the bathroom. Rec thought he was moving easier now. He liked to think the relaxing afternoon had something to do with that.

He needed to do some deep tissue massage, push Barclay into a deeper relaxation. That would go along nicely with some conversation once Barclay got out of the bathroom.

Barclay came out, face washed, grinning at him. That’s what he liked to see. He smiled right back.

“Hey.” Barclay crutched to him, eased himself down.

Reaching out, he settled his hand on Barclay’s thigh. He loved touching this man. The muscles jumped for a second, then eased under his touch.

“How does a massage sound, B? Like the perfect accent to a great day?”

“Are you sure? I sort of owe you one.”

“I’m not the one in recovery,” he noted. He didn’t need a quid pro quo. “Come on. Let’s get you laid out on the couch.”

“If you’re sure….” Barclay came right to him.

“I’m totally sure. I wouldn’t have offered if I didn’t want to.
